Our December calendar is packed with events and workshops you don’t want to miss! We’ll be sending off the year with one last Jam Session, hosted by Tobi Sinclair!
2025 Community Card for sale!
Get your 2025 Community Card today at Alcove! It’s a perfect stocking stuffer for friends and family.
The Alcove Community Card is available to purchase for $30 and gives you access to special offers/discounts at 49 businesses around Calgary! We also offer team packages at a discounted rate for groups of 5 or more! Enjoy discounted coffee, beers, galleries, lessons, art supplies, and quality time all while supporting local businesses! Eligible January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025.
We have a few additions to the Community Card this year, including, a quarterly Insider Newsletter, giving an exclusive look into Alcove and the local art scene, as well as a change to our Creatives Mixer admissions. Starting in 2025, you must own and register a Community Card to attend our quarterly Creatives Mixer events.
We revealed the mural last week, but you still have ONE LAST CHANCE to make your mark on our "Stories of this Land" mural led by Matias Martinez. Tell your story and relationship to this land that we live, work and play on.

"What is Public Art?" is a new series that explores expanding the definition of what we believe is "public art" through activations & community conversations. This series is in partnership with Calgary Arts Development.
Come get involved in a live projection mapping activity led by Mackenzie Bedford from Mapperz. You’ll also have a chance to let us know your thoughts and hopes for the future of Calgary's Public Art!

ARTIST2ARTIST ADMIN WORK CAFÉ is a place for artists & arts administrators to connect and grow their business, administrative efficiency, and expand their opportunities with partnerships/collaborations.
This drop-in session is a place for YOU TO GET YOUR OWN ADMIN WORK DONE in a supportive environment led by The Oratory.

Come join the Live music jam & talk led by Kindé. The afternoon will begin with a window case activation of a producer's jam (open to all) followed by a public forum conversation led by Matias Martinez. There will be an "open mic" style sign-up at the doors if you would like to formally join the conversation. We had to postpone this event last month, so we are excited to be able to host it now!

It's a lunch time party! Come down to the last Window Case Concert of the year and enjoy festive live music by the talented members of One Big Jam & hosted by The Oratory, inside our window case on 7 Ave SW. Come down for a free tea, conversations, art-making and more!

Thursday Night Jams sessions are a welcoming space for musicians, poets, singers and attendees to play non-stop music with one another in an open circle, "living room" setting! Even if you don't jam, we have a variety of art supplies to get crafty during the show.
This evening, we’re proud to host Coat Cheque which was started by Nights Like This. This initiative collects donations of jackets, sweaters, and other warm clothing, which will be donated to Good Neighbour to support individuals in need during the chilly winter months.

Join us in the Closing event for the, "What is Public Art?" series that launched at Alcove in September. The closing event will include a Community Conversation with the artists that were involved in the 4 Artist Talks & Activations that were hosted this Fall! The program will also include a Jam session with the artists involved: Kindé (musician), Nick Wise (DJ/Producer), Mackenzie Bedford (Projection Mapping).

Wrapping Up a Creative Year, Looking Ahead to 2025
As 2024 draws to a close, we at Alcove Centre for the Arts are filled with gratitude and pride for the incredible year we've had. From inspiring workshops and vibrant community events to meaningful collaborations and unforgettable moments of artistic expression, this year has been a testament to the power of creativity and connection. None of it would have been possible without your unwavering support and participation.
As we look forward to 2025, we’re excited to continue building a space where artists thrive, ideas flourish, and our community comes together to celebrate the arts. Stay tuned for new programs, exciting partnerships, and even more ways to engage with Alcove. Here’s to another year of creativity and collaboration!
*CLOSED for the Winter season
Alcove will be closed throughout the winter season and we will gradually re-open with our January Raw Voices and weekly Jam sessions in February. Stay tuned for our re-opening plans in 2025 and all the new exciting programs we have in store for you!
*Friendly reminder to guests that hot food is not permitted in the space, with exceptions during special events. This is to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the recreational art space.
*Parking in the loading zone by the back door is not permitted, except for staff and facilitators/performers who have a workshop or performance at Alcove. Please do not park there otherwise.

The Alcove Centre for the Arts is a non-profit located in Calgary (244 7th Avenue SW). Our aim is to make the arts accessible through pay-what-you-can events and art workshops. We believe that art and creativity are integral to the human experience and in building vibrant and dynamic communities.
Visiting Us
Affordable parking is located at: TD Core’s Underground Parkade (745 4 St SW, Calgary, AB T2P 4K9). It has free 3-hour parking after 3pm on Weekdays, and a flat rate of $2 for longer. There is free 3-hour parking all day on Weekends, with a $2 flat rate for longer. If you are taking Calgary Transit, we are just across the street from 3rd Street Station.
