Celebrate the 8-year anniversary of Raw Voices! We have a special event planned for this occasion. The July 2024 Raw Voices will be located at a secret location on July 26. RSVP to receive the location details.

Window Case Concert during Stampede Week!

Window Case Concert will be happening during the Calgary Stampede this month! Come check out an improvised musical performance by One Big Jam with host Priscilla Cherry from The Oratory. Liven up your lunch hour on July 10th, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm! Show up early to enjoy a Stampede Breakfast next door, hosted by Brookfield Properties (the breakfast is not affiliated with Alcove).

Our 2nd Street Window Case Gallery will be showcasing the work of Matias Martinez, a member of Como se Dice, a local latiné(x) artist collective bringing Latin programming to Mohkinstsis centered on: identity, reconnection & reclamation. The artwork will be up on display from July 3rd till the end of the month!

Indigenous Latin American artist Matias Martinez is of Mapuche/Maya descent based in Calgary, Alberta. Martinez’s work combines glass, paintings, and social practices, driven by my identity and curiosity, With themes of identity, love, memories, and commonality. His organic style is influenced by emotions, daily experiences, and music.

Artist2Artist Admin Work Cafe

ARTIST2ARTIST ADMIN WORK CAFE is a place for artists & arts administrators to connect and grow their business, administrative efficiency, and expand their opportunities with partnerships. This is also a great space to connect with the grantors at Calgary Arts Development.

This month’s guest speaker will be Dan Cardinal, co-director at Stride Gallery. The topic of this event is accessing commercial spaces & galleries.

Admission by Donation ($5 - $15). Recommended 16+

Reduced number of workshops during Summer

With so many events happening this summer, we’ve reduced the number of workshops. We’ll be back with our regular mix of visual, textile and music/performance workshops in the Fall. Check out our music and photography workshops in July!

Community Mural Launch with Macanjy - postponed

The launch of the Storytelling Community Mural project led by Macanjy will be postponed until the fall. Stay tuned for updates as we prepare to launch the project in September!

The Alcove Music Studio provides rehearsal space, recording, mixing, mastering and production. Book your session today!

*Friendly reminder to guests that hot food is not permitted in the space, with exceptions during special events. This is to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the recreational art space.
*Parking in the loading zone by the back door is not permitted except for staff and facilitators/performers who have a workshop or performance at Alcove. Please do not park there otherwise.

The Alcove Centre for the Arts is a non-profit located in Calgary (244 7th Avenue SW). Our aim is to make the arts accessible through pay-what-you-can events and art workshops. We believe that art and creativity are integral to the human experience and in building vibrant and dynamic communities.

Visiting Us
Affordable parking is located at: TD Core’s Underground Parkade (745 4 St SW, Calgary, AB T2P 4K9). It has free 3-hour parking after 3pm on Weekdays, and a flat rate of $2 for longer. There is free 3-hour parking all day on Weekends, with a $2 flat rate for longer. If you are taking Calgary Transit, we are just across the street from 3rd Street Station.
