What's Happening at Alcove!

Window Case Concert is back this month!

We are happy to announce that the Window Case Concert is back this month and will continue for the rest of the year! Come check out an improvised musical performance by One Big Jam with host Priscilla Cherry from The Oratory. Liven up your lunch break on June 12th (11:30 am - 1:30 pm)!

We are closed Canada Day weekend (June 29-30)

Sled Island Exhibition

Check out an art exhibition of local visual artists in partnership with Sled Island's annual festival. Come see the works of 5 talented: Joyce Nseya, Lauréat Nkinzo, Chidera Uzoka, NOFACE, & Ryle Rameriez. Free admission. All ages. (June 19-21, 12 pm - 9 pm and June 22-23 1 pm - 6 pm)

Community Mural Launch with Macanjy

We are launching a Storytelling Community Mural project led by Macanjy. Come join us for the launch and add your mark and share your story and relationship with the land we live on! (Friday, June 21, 7 pm - 9 pm)

Black Artist Village

Do you identify as a Black Artist in this city? Looking for resources, connections, and a community to expand your artistic opportunities? This is the event for you! Learn more and meet the members and work of the Black Arts & Culture Council this evening.

No registration required, come drop-in! (Tuesday, June 18, 6 pm - 9 pm)

Admission by Donation ($10). - Recommended Ages 16+.

City Building Conversations

Do you want a city that provides more choices for every Calgarian! Let's Build! Share your ideas, experiences and actions for the type of City you want to live in! This program is in partnership with City of Calgary & O2 Design.

Free drop-in! Participants receive a small gift card as a thank you! (Sunday, June 23, 2024, 1 pm- 6 pm)

Artist2Artist Admin Work Cafe

ARTIST2ARTIST ADMIN WORK CAFE is a place for artists & arts administrators to connect and grow their business, administrative efficiency, and expand their opportunities with partnerships. This is also a great space to connect with the grantors at Calgary Arts Development.

These are drop-in sessions on June 9th and 23rd in collaboration with The Oratory.

Admission by Donation ($5 - $15). Recommended 16+

The Alcove Music Studio is accepting bookings for rehearsals and recordings!

The Alcove Music Studio provides rehearsal space, recording, mixing, mastering and production. Book your session today!

*Friendly reminder to guests that hot food is not permitted in the space except during special events. This is to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the recreational art space.
*Parking in the loading zone by the back door is not permitted except for staff and facilitators/performers who have a workshop or performance at Alcove. Please do not park there otherwise.

The Alcove Centre for the Arts is a non-profit located in Calgary (244 7th Avenue SW). Our aim is to make the arts accessible through pay-what-you-can events and art workshops. We believe that art and creativity are integral to the human experience and in building vibrant and dynamic communities.

Visiting Us
Affordable parking is located at: TD Core’s Underground Parkade (745 4 St SW, Calgary, AB T2P 4K9). It has free 3-hour parking after 3pm on Weekdays, and a flat rate of $2 for longer. There is free 3-hour parking all day on Weekends, with a $2 flat rate for longer. If you are taking Calgary Transit, we are just across the street from 3rd Street Station.
