The Alcove will be closed from December 22nd to January 25th. See you on January 26th for our first 2024 Raw Voices in the space on 244 7th Ave SW!

Thanks for joining us this year, we couldn’t have done it without you!

The end of the year marks the end of our time piloting The Alcove as a full time space in downtown Calgary. We hosted 40+ Events, 60+ Workshops, and had a ton of fun!

About the Pilot

This year, The Alcove partnered with the City of Calgary and cSPACE to pilot a recreational art space in the heart of downtown Calgary. This project was about reimagining public spaces to build a more creative and vibrant city. Thanks to all of you, we were successful in showing Calgarians the need for more creative spaces that are accessible to the public and provide engaging programming!

Plans for Next Year!

The pilot project was a great opportunity to experiment with the space and the types of programs/activities we ran. Since opening in April, we've transformed a former shoe store into a gathering place for the community to create and share. After all the work we put into setting up each room decorating the space and making it our home, we are not ready to leave quite yet.

We are excited to announce that we've renewed our lease and plan to remain in our current location for 2024!

About Us
The Alcove Centre for the Arts is a non-profit located in Calgary (244 7th Avenue SW). Our aim is to make the arts accessible through pay-what-you-can events and art workshops. We believe that art and creativity are integral to the human experience and in building vibrant and dynamic communities.

Visiting Us
Affordable parking is located at: TD Core’s Underground Parkade (745 4 St SW, Calgary, AB T2P 4K9). It has free 3-hour parking after 3pm on Weekdays, and a flat rate of $2 for longer. There is free 3-hour parking all day on Weekends, with a $2 flat rate for longer.
If you're taking Calgary Transit we're just across from 3rd Street SW Station.
